Picking the right memorial

The process of choosing the right monument or marker can be a daunting task. With all the options out there for designs, material and companies it can be difficult to know where to start.

We’d like to share just a few steps that can make this process a little easier.

Determine a budget: Deciding your overall budget can help determine where to start when looking at options. Basic options start with flush markers, installed flush with the ground, all the way up to large upright family monuments  and benches . Don’t worry though; there is a beautiful option for any budget.

Location, location, location: Different cemeteries have different regulations and rules on headstones. Be sure to check with the cemetery office to ensure the monument style you want is permitted (Example: some cemeteries only allow flush markers).

A meaningful design: A marker should be designed to reflect the life of your loved one. Many people choose to include a favorite quote or Bible verse with their design. Illustrations are another way to make your design unique, someone with a passion for traveling might include a globe or world map.

Stone type and color: The most popular choice for monument  material is granite. Granite comes in so many different colors that it can be overwhelming to pick one. Some opt to let our current inventory narrow down the options for them. Picking a general color or hue that you like is also a great place to begin.

Following these steps will hopefully make the monument buying process a little easier for you. But the most important step is to find someone who you are comfortable working with and ask lots of questions along the way!
